What Does A Mentor Do?
Mentors offer peer support by drawing on their own experiences to:
- Welcome new members and help them feel at home
- Listen with empathy and offer encouragement during challenges
- Share personal tips, stories, and lessons learned along the way
- Celebrate wins, big and small
- Help others navigate the ups and downs of their journey
- Foster connection, belonging, and a spirit of “you’re not alone”
Who Can Be A Mentor
Any member who has made progress on their journey and has a caring, supportive attitude is welcome.
No formal training or certification is required—just a genuine desire to help others succeed.
Mentor Training
Every new mentor begins with a streamlined Mentor Orientation designed around your schedule and learning preferences. This concise 1–2 hour online training combines flexible self-paced modules with a live Zoom session for genuine connection and interactive Q&A. You’ll develop practical skills in active listening, setting healthy boundaries, and supporting others using the Eat the Weight Off philosophy. Plus, you’ll receive a comprehensive mentor guide and ongoing support to ensure your success every step of the way.
